The Search for Perfect Wedding Makeup: Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and Eyeshadow Primer

I am on the search for the perfect wedding makeup.

I want to do my own makeup for a few reasons.

1.  I am a control freak.  I don't like not knowing how I look or how I'm going to look.
2.  I am a penny-pincher.  Or at least I like to pretend to be one.  Currently I'm spending an awful lot on makeup and craft supplies....
3.  The wedding is in another state, so it's easier to bring makeup than bring a makeup artist.

Regardless of my reasoning, though, this is happening and I threw a ton of makeup out today because it either smelled funny, had dried out (or gone runny), or was a terrible color I never wore to begin with.  So we begin anew.

I have had my eye on Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette for a long time.  (It's on several of my Pinterest boards.)  I finally broke down and bought it this month because Ulta sent me a 20% coupon and I had some rewards points to cash in.

It's so beautiful
The tin definitely leaves something to be desired.  I was expecting high quality metal for high quality makeup but it's actually plastic.  :(  Also the brush has not been cooperating with me.  A few people have said they love laying down color with one end and blending with the other but I have had crap luck at the blending. A combination of the included brush and my own brushes (consisting of paintbrushes, Mary Kay brushes, and a random Kabuki brush from somewhere) produce some beautiful results.
So far I have to say the actual eye shadows are fantastic.  They're highly pigmented of course and they coordinate with one another perfectly, which is the point!
So far I've tried this look with moderate success:

The palette also came with a free sample of each of Urban Decay's four different eye primers.

I tried the Anti-Aging primer and was thrilled with the results.  Previously my eyeshadow primer was by Mary Kay (surprise surprise) and my shadows always melted and creased.  My Urban Decay look stayed in place all day.  It looked almost exactly the same at 9pm when I took it off as it did twelve hours earlier when I applied it.  There was a faint crease on my right eye but I could only see it when I leaned in toward the mirror so I don't think that counts.
The only thing I didn't like about it was that it dries to a yellowish color.  They do have one that supposedly dries clear but it doesn't have the anti-aging properties and as I near the big three-oh, that is becoming more and more important to me.
I really like that you can buy a travel size primer for about half the price because I don't use a lot of makeup so a lot of product goes to waste and that means I also waste a lot of money.

Here is the result of my attempt at the tutorial and evidence of how well the primer works:

Approximately 9:30am.  Taken in the daylight so the shadow looks like a different color, but I swear it's the same!  Also I was wearing fake lashes at this point, which I removed soon thereafter.

Around 11pm, over twelve hours later.  Taken in the bathroom under my crappy lights.  You can see the pigment is still strong, and while there is some gathering of shimmer along my eyelid creases the color itself has stayed strong!
