I was in such a hurry I actually had unwrapped and used/eaten a bunch of it before I remembered I needed pictures of my new free presents!
So what was I lucky enough to haul away this year?
- Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner -- I really liked this eyeliner. I'm lazy and don't like to take off my eye makeup....because I don't like to reapply it.... Yeah. Anyway, unlike my usual eyeliner which lasts to the second day, there was still a little left on day 3, including showers. Woo hoo! Waterproof, check! Not smudgeproof, but hey, I wouldn't trust anything that said it was.
- Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover -- When I finally decide that it's time to grow up and start removing my eye makeup...or when I first wake up with fine lines and realize I need to take care of myself...this will be perfect. It is really gentle and removed the super waterproof eyeliner I liked so much.
- NYC New York Color Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum -- I'm not a big lipstick girl. They make my lips sticky and they wear off really quickly and I can never pick the right shade. I tend toward lip stains that can be easily worn both sheer and strong, or just a good chapstick. This lipstick really impressed me. First of all it went on so smoothly, even though my lips were rough from being chapped. It was definitely the creamiest lipstick I have ever experienced (and I've tried high-end lipsticks, don't get me wrong.) It was a lovely color, a dark nude, and didn't come off on everything it touched.
- Celestial Seasonings Candy Can Lane Decaf Green Tea -- I do really like the minty flavor. It's a nice light tea that doesn't need a lot of sugar to be tasty. I wonder if I couldn't go without sugar completely, which would be great. I like that it is decaf as well, because the mintiness makes me think of bed time.
- Boots No7 Protect and Perfect ADVANCED -- I've only applied it once so far but it was soft and smooth. In fact I keep wanting to touch my face to feel it's smoothness. I thought it would be too expensive but at $23 it's the same price as my normal facial lotion, but I have to use a lot less because this is a serum. I'm considering investing in a full size bottle, I do have a coupon to use at Ulta after all....
- McCormick Gourmet All Natural Thyme -- Ok this was definitely the most awkward of the bunch. I don't expect a jar of spices in my VoxBox. Maybe if it were cloves or cinnamon or nutmeg or some sort of Christmas-y spice but thyme? It's so weird that I even forgot to get it for the picture and then didn't think it was important enough to retake the picture! I must say I do like McCormick spices though, and thyme is great for savory dishes. My fiance makes a wicked parmesan chicken breast that calls for thyme. Influenster asked for the good, the bad and the lovely.
- Fruit Vine Bites Strawberry -- I may have torn into these right away, munching along as I tore the packaging off the rest of the items. I was skeptical because I don't really like Red Vines; I'm a Twizzler girl. Red Vines are just too tough, it's like the freshest ones are already stale. Ick. Not so with these fruit vines, though! They're really soft and remind me of the pull-n-peel Twizzlers which are my ultimate favorite among soft candies. Yum yum. Yeah, they're definitely all gone.
- Eco Tools Full Volume Styler -- Brushes and my hair don't get along. I typically only ever ever brush it if I am about to hop in the shower, just in order to detangle. Even when it gets thrown in a pony tail I just use my fingers to rake the pieces together and maybe a wide-tooth comb if it's misbehaving particularly badly. It's taken me years to realize the brush is my enemy. So imagine my surprise when I was able to run this brush through my hair and not wind up with "pyramid head." Minimal frizz, my friends: minimal! I'm in love. I did not know such a brush existed. I think it has something to do with the tiny bristles around every large plastic one. All I know is it works and it feels really good gliding across my scalp, like a little mini-massage. *sigh* I only wish it were smaller because it's going to take up twice as much space when I have to pack for a trip.
Influenster asked for the good, the bad and the lovely.
It's hard to pick only one good but I'll have to go with the hairbrush because it has already replaced my old one.
The bad? Gonna have to go with the thyme. Just because it was weird. I feel bad choosing it though because it's a full-size jar and spices are not cheap. It's just so weird and the others were all so good!
And the lovely. Sugar plum lipstick for the win! As I said before, it was indeed a lovely shade. So smooth. Changed my view of lipsticks.
